K4 Elk Call Kit

We had an archery elk hunt in Arizona this year. First time hunting/calling elk outside of rifle season. This worked well for me. Simple, minimalistic design. It held my calls and bugle tube well with no issues. Make sure to run your bugle tube under the shoulder strap. I didn't at first. Once I figured out my mistake it worked great.

Could not get it to work. Also, mouth calls just crumple when in the holder. I would not recommend it.

Super clean way to carry a couple extra go-to reeds and your tube while cruising for bulls.

I’ve had this kit for two years now (well over 50 days in the North Idaho mountains) and I’ve not had a single reed lost. If you put the reeds in there as designed they are very secure and protected; yes if you push them in too far or try to jam them in, they can wrinkle—don’t do that.

The tube holder is stupid simple, admittedly not my favorite way of carrying my bugle tube as I use a rather large (Slayer) tube; but it’s quick and easy to tuck it in there while moving between calling points. Even in the north Idaho brush I’ve never had this thing come open or lost a tube, what will happen however is the tube will migrate for ward an back which loosens the tension from the shoulder harness and allows the tube to bang around or scrape on the brush (this is obviously partially a component of tube size also) which is super annoying. If I’m going to be hiking long distances through the brush and not need my tube I’ll strap it to the side of my pack much like you would for your weapon.

Overall not perfect but still a very simple and effective design. I do think that some sort of waist belt attachment at the Nalgene molle panel could be an interesting addition to this kit.

I love Exo gear but this product should be discontinued. The bugle tube is not held securely, the top will slip backward and sometimes fall completely to the ground. Also the reed calls can fall out. I lost my $75 bugle tube one day, and then lost a $12 reed the next day. I'm out almost $90 of lost gear plus the cost of this kit so I won't use it anymore. The shoulder strap reed holder would be fine if the slots opened up against gravity instead of to the side.
